Course Review: Yas Links

9 May

Although I am not a huge fan of Links golf, I thoroughly enjoyed playing a round at the Yas Links. The Yas Links course is truly world class and lives up to, if not exceeds, expectation.

Located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the Yas Links is rated as the number 1 course in the UAE. In a country where golf luxury and premium golf is pretty much the standard, the overall experience at the Yas Links golf club is by far the most impressive I have ever encountered.

The warm up area is fit for a Tour Professional – right down to the Pro V balls on the range but the most impressive for me was the club house…I can’t imagine a locker room anywhere else in the world being more impressive.

The course plays true to Links style golf and was in excellent condition from the manicured fairways to exquisitely maintained greens. The rough, as expected, was in true Links style punishing !!! Playing to a Par 72 with Two Par 5s and Two Par 3s on each nine, the course measures 6,779 meters/7,414 yards from the back tees.

A round at Yas Links includes a golf cart/buggy fitted with a GPS unit, towels and water. Range balls and access to a stunningly beautiful clubhouse are also included in your green fee.

I played Yas Links during the UAE spring and paid AED 899.00 / £160.00 for the pleasure.
